Parents are people
who after years of trying but failing
to completely screw you up by their lives
make one last gargantuan attempt
to completely screw you up by their deaths.

A great bit of wisdom I've hung onto with regard to parents - don't be too hard on your mum and dad, they're just kids who grew up and had kids.


I once heard some great advice for parents: be nice to your children, they choose your nursing home.
