It's been a joy to see how our new "Together" services at 11am have been working. Interactive, fun, reflective and with spiritual nuggets aplenty, it's been hard work, but worth it. Jenny and Lorraine in particular have been stars.
Next Sunday sees the start of a new series on "Saints". It's shaping up well. After the technical disasters of yesterday (Powerpoint failure and the painfully slo-mo version of Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti"), I'm praying that all will go well next Sunday.
Last night's "Any Questions" on the Church went well too. The panel answered well and we didn't get too many curved balls. I realise that not everyone will be happy with everything that is said, especially if they don't agree with our answers, but I hope we did share some helpful insights.
CurveD balls?! Is that an unfortunate medical condition? ;-)
Delighted that 3 of my questions got answered (although, alas, the best ones did not!) and some of the responses were good. Although you know perfectly well that 'Fundamentalist' is not merely a meaningless ad hom insult - my (well-thumbed!) Dictionary of Evangelical Theology has an entry on Fundamentalism and and 'The Funamental' pamphlets. Wikipedia (scholarly!)does note the emphasis on millenial eschatology that guru Stew mentioned, but it's only one point out of four - is the term really just an insult when applied to those who DO meet most of the definitions but think 'evangelical' sounds better? It's bad enough that you guys can't cop to being 'protestants' anymore!
Saints series sounds cool! Hope you do Saints Sergius and Bacchus : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saints_Sergius_and_Bacchus

Hi, Padre -- I used to attend a RC church in which the pastor would end his sermons with "anyone have anything to add?"
Very risky -- especially because it was a university chapel in the middle of a neighbor loaded with group homes for addicts and mentally unstable people.
We were treated to some really interesting impromptu "sermons."

If you decide to trial the "anything to add?" idea, can you wait till we have coffee so we can quietly slip away when the bunfighting starts??

Re "anything to add", you could always set a strict time limit on it to prevent it becoming a theological all-nighter.....
