Cool stuff! But where's the Sacristry? ;-)

Andrew T

Thanks for the photos. Perhaps as things progress with the work you could post more and even have some before and after type shots? I love watching things take shape!

Funnily enough my mind is in construction mode at the moment as someone was talking to me yesterday evening about the building of the Allianz Arena in Munich. I'm sure the new hall will be as impressive when finished although on a smaller scale.

ryan

Ooh, is that the one that , shaped like a tire (in a good way!), can light up different colours depending on the team that's playing there? Red for Bayern obviously. Geeky/cool fact: apparently, the biggest stadium theoretically possible is one that holds 100,000 people - any bigger, and those in the highest stands can't see the ball!

Billy

Ryan,
Ibrox had a crowd of 118 567 watching us play them in 1939

Andrew T

Correct Ryan.
The Allianz Arena lights up in the following colours:
Red = Bayern
White = German National team playing there
Blue = TSV 1860

Bayern and TSV 1860 sharing the same ground is, I'm told, akin to Rangers and Celtic having the same park such is the rivalry between the two clubs although 1860 is in a lower division.

Perhaps you could think of some colours for the new hall to be illuminated in and share the reasons why?

Mike

I thought Ryan would comment on the photo of yourself: "Cone on, everyone, Y-M-C-A...."

Jen

Where's the Library?

ryan

Ah, should have specified that 100,000 limit is for an all-seating stadium - if you've got standing sections, you can cram even more in.

Must have been a hell of an atmosphere with 118,567!

Ha! Alas, Fr.Rector-Gadget is, like all clergy, far too camp to picture as the *butch* member of the Village People ;-)! Although I gather he did have a dodgy moustache once!

ryan

Brilliant! How cool would it be if Ibrox lit up with all 3 of those colours?

New hall should be illuminated in liturgically appropriate colours (3 weeks purple and one week pink in Advent, for example). Although permanent pink or orange might work too.

Mike

Fr.Rector-Gadget??? Way too weird an honorific!

ryan

He's more a rock star than he is a "vicar" (this isn't england!). ;-)
