Which STV were you looking at? I saw the goal OK with no unintended ads!

lol! England very much can not do 'everything' through 'him who gives me strength' if that includes 'getting past the semis'. Brazilians tend to be more Christian (remember the 2002 World Cup win, and prayers on the pitch?)than the boozing England team, so one doubts that God is roorting for En-ger-land ;).

ITV HD. See story: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-2010/7823692/Viewers-miss-opening-England-goal-after-ITV-shows-commercial.html

"We all screw up sometimes. When it happens, we can either immerse ourselves in guilt or self pity, or we can take responsibility, apologise and move on."

In general terms, that is a false set of dichotomies. You can also choose to ignore the consequences and not feel guilt. I also think there are situations where an apology is not enough. Imagine a situation for example where someone is falsely accused of rape. Is an apology simply enough, or should the accuser help rebuild that person's reputation? I often found that christians thought if they were "OK with god" they could ignore the consequences of their actions.

Specifically, I don't see that Green has too much to apologise for - it was an accident. It's not like he intended it. It's the blood thirsty English media that are building it up. They need someone to blame. Heaven forbid that the truth could simply be that England are just not that good.
