It's been a 'catalogue of things going wrong' kind-of-day.
The phone rang at 8am. It was the hall builders, saying that power was off and they didn't have keys to the church. They wanted in to check the fuse box. I insisted that they must have keys, but agreed to go and let them in. I got in the car only to set off and discover it's got a puncture (to be fixed by a man-in-a-van tomorrow). I parked the car, and jumped on my bicycle. I let the builders in, only to discover that the problem was nothing to do with the fuse box in church. I cracked my shin on a cycle pedal as I left the building to get home (am sore and bruised). I decided to do some gardening, only to cut the cable of the hedgecutter in a cloud of sparks. I then got a knockback letter that I'd been expecting (previous events made this less upsetting than it might have been).
The only bright side in all this was the request from the young man who called me to church at the beginning of the day - he asked if could he get married at St Silas'. That made my day.
Oh, the garden looks better than it did too.
lol! Have heard of clergy mishaps, but never all that in one day :).
