Most Wednesdays, after our morning prayer meeting, I have a breakfast appointment in one of our local eateries, Stravaigin. As regulars, we are known for our costly order of scrambled egg rolls and coffee. Today was no different from usual, with us enjoying good conversation and a little prayer. After breakfast, it was back to the office for a busy day. All was well until 3.30pm, when the person I was spending time with used the word, "coffee", which for some reason bothered me. I quickly realised this was because it triggered the following question in me, "It was my turn to pay for breakfast this morning, and I have a funny feeling that I simply walked out without doing so!". Calling my companion for breakfast, who confirmed my fear, and with visions of a police investigation into my criminal behaviour, I dashed round to Stravaigin, to be greeted to the the sight of all the staff in conference. I imagined I was the talk of the steamie, but they were very gracious as I handed over the money and asked for forgiveness. The guy serving was new and he was grateful (and maybe even a little amazed) that I'd come back. Everyone else was fine with me. I guess they knew this criminal would be back for more next week. My embarrassment was diminished, especially as one of the Staravaigin staff attended my 4pm Gibson Street Gala meeting. I'm glad I made the effort to sort it out.
